O.P. Laptop Recommendations
Just received an e-mail and I'll be getting back a lot more from my income tax return, so I've decided it's time for a new laptop. What would you recommend and please only recommend if you have knowledge of it.
Looking to spend $800 USD. No integrated graphics, decent amount of ram, and screen size/weight is not a big deal for me.

4GB DDR2 RAM
15.2"
ATI Radeon X1270 256MB
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core 2 GHz
320GB HDD

NOOO, not gateway... i used to have one, they overheat, their hinges break, but other than that they're fine (it might have been just the model i bought, but i wouldn't buy anything from them again).

indeed, altho mine doesn't over heat, but the hinges are crap and i'm through two power connection ports (with the current one about to fully brake very soon, least i still have 6 months warranty left  ) |

Over the last week have not had any problems with it. Fan has ran nice and slow, HD works fantastic, only con is the keyboard doesn't have a backlight.
