I had messenger 9 but it wasn't installed properly so I deleted it to reinstall it but the installer says that I still have messenger, although there's no trace of it on the computer, I've tried countless times, and I tried installing older versions all of which tell me that I already have a newer version! Does anyone know how to fix it? [font=Courier]

Use ZapMessenger to completely delete WLM and then install whatever version you like of Windows Live Messenger.

Thanks but I cant install zapmessenger at the minute either apparently I need to install the V2.0.50727 version of the .NET framework first

It sounds like your computer is VERY out of date.

I'd suggest going to Windows Update multiple times and downloading all available updates...then try using the ZapMessenger tool

Thanks all I downloaded the framework file, then zap messenger and then messenger, but now i get an error code (8007007e) when I try to sign in grrr

Decided it wasn't worth the trouble so i'm going to go back to messenger 8.5, thanks anyway guys

You may soon be forced to upgrade from 8.5 to 2009 however, so it's worth the extra effort to get it working, rather than having to come back to the same problem in a few weeks/months
