Hi. just wondering if any one could help me out.

let me give you the situation.
i got a new laptop today, i was wanting my msn back to the way it was on my old laptop before it broke, where the statuses were online, busy, brb out to lunch offline etc. instead this msn version has available busy away and appear offline. was just wondering what i could do to solve this problem.
also, if it helps my new msn has the pictures on the left hand side of the convo, however i would like the pictures to be on the right hand side.

They removed those options. Download an earlier version of Windows Live Messenger if you want them back. But there really is no point in my opinion. People using 9 will still only see Online, Busy and Away.

i tried and it keeps telling me that if i want to continue i need to update to a newer version of the software. is there anything i can do to fix this?

Remove the current version and try a standalone install.
