Unfortunately I have had this problem for a while now so I can not say what I did that lead to this problem.

My problem is, is that my chat windows are showing my screen name incorrectly. No matter how many times I change it, it stays to a name I used a few months ago. My contacts still see the changes I make to my screen name, but, like I mentioned, I see one that I used a few months ago.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused this is, I also use Fedora linux, using pigeon I think the name is, for MSN.

Is there any way currently I can have my real screen name show?

I had the exact same problem. But then I downloads the newer version of msn and it changed back to my new one.

Could you possibly try unchecking the box "use the same Display picture and name whereever i sign in"?

Im not sure if it would work, but might be worth a try?

Have you added yourself as a contact?

Something similar happened to me years ago and I think that was the cause.

In fact, if you add yourself and set a nickname to you, it will happen.
