Is it in anyway, MessengerDiscovery affiliated with Plus! ?
Or is it a totally different program from WLM?

Would it be possible to implement its functions into plus as well?

Both products aren't affiliated. Messenger Discovery is made differently and has its own features. Some of them are already in Messenger Plus!.

there's this nifty feature in messenger discovery that alerts u should a contact close/initiate a conversation. is that available on plus!?

These features are in no way accurate, infact, they are so innacurate that theres no using it.

oh well, guess i will stick with good ol' Plus! then.

Except for some oddities related to skins and scripts, specially when they change strings and icons/buttons.

MessengerDiscovery has some interesting features and offers a low-level access down to the protocol level that Plus! doesn't even reach.  In my opinion it would be great if we could access this level in Plus! scripts as well.

yep, that's also why that program has/had so many problems and requires so much time between updates. So no thank you.
