O.P. Sorting by online status issue
Ok i thought i'd ask here as well as somewhere on the microsoft site, as i thought maybe you guys would know of this problem. I'm running WLM version 2009 build 14 and the latest version of Plus. No matter how many times i select the option to do so, the list of contacts will NOT sort itself according to status. It will ONLY sort alphabetically, which is not what i want at all. Doesn't matter if the names are in groups or not, they just refuse to sort according to status. I really want to figure this problem out and wasn't sure if it was a known WLM problem, or one with plus? Anyone able to help?

thanks.

are you doing organise contacts by: "Online Status" ?

if so, this is only sorting them between the 'group' online and offline, they will be sorted alphabetically from then on...

if not, please shed some light on the option you are using, via its exactly text or a screenshot

:)

i have tried having them in no categories at all, and sorting them according to online status, and i've also tried putting them in categories, and sorting them via the option "Sort contacts within categories "by status" "

However both options still sort the contacts alphabetically.

Sort by status just puts online and offline contacts in different "groups", there is no way for messenger to further sort the contacts within a group according to status (like online first, then busy etc) or put the different statuses in different groups.

well if thats the case what is the point of the option Sort contacts within categories: "By Status" or "Alphabetically"

i thought that should do exactly what i'm wanting! Instead it makes no difference at all either way..

On the 'Layout' tab of options and  then it's near the bottom: 'Sort contacts within categories'

Then there seems to be a misunderstanding about what they actually do. I am using the Swedish version of WLM, where the first option let's me sort according to nickname or first and last name, and the second options let's me sort the contacts according to online status or categories.
