O.P. Dual monitor issues with full screen gaming
Ive got a dual monitor setup (24" widescreen as main and a 19" next to it) and when I play games, since I have the game resolution set to something different to my desktop resolution, my screen resolution obviously changes (on my main monitor)

The problem is, this screws up everything on my desktop and like pushes them out and changes the places of things such as widgets.

This ss is of in the game, where you can see that half my screen ahs been pushed over (firefox starts like 1/3 the way through the second monitor)

And this is what happens when I quit the game:

Is there any way to like temporarily disable the second monitor (without turning it off physically or wrecking anything on that screen) so that this doesnt happen? Im using Ultramon, but I havent found a way to do it in that =/

Thanks

...why not just run the game at your desktop resolution?

I usually do this too, but running this game in particular (and a couple others) has caused me issues and caused some unwanted errors, and i actually like to play full screen =/

well then you've got a problem, because this is one of the many reasons you should always be running your monitor at its native resolution.

can't you just turn down the settings of the game?

i could actually, and having played gta4 on the pc, i know that it lets you set the settings very low if you want them to, and even tells you how much VRAM the configuration you've chosen will take

Like others have said, you have two options:

1) Run game in native resolution

2) Windowed mode

If none of those are possible, then you could always remove one monitor.

RE: Dual monitor issues with full screen gaming
I'm using UltraMon with my dual screens, it will at least be able to restore your wallpaper and icon positions. Works fine for me with fullscreen apps, but both of my monitors are the same resolution, and i can run fullscreen apps at the native resolution too. It also has a quick way to disable the secondary monitor from the system tray if you prefer turning it off completely.

Runs on command line too, so your game shortcut could link to a batch file containing something like this to automatically toggle the second display when you launch your game:
code:
@ECHO OFF
"c:\program files\ultramon\ultramon.exe" /d
"c:\program files\game\game.exe"
"c:\program files\ultramon\ultramon.exe" /e

I cannot hear you. There is a banana in my ear.
