That's more than enough for Firefox.

Try disabling all your add-ons, and see if that improves the loading. If it does, turn on the add-ons one at a time, until the loading times drop off again. Then you'll have the culprit.

I have no add-ons yet. Can never be bothered to wait for it to load =/

Vista x64 SP2 and 8GB RAM on a Q6600.
I've found this as well, although it's not a particularly long time - 10 seconds or so.

XP32 Pro SP3 and 4GB RAM on a Q9550. :)

You may also try cleaning out these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\My Recent Documents
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Temp\

On Vista or Windows 7 systems, simply replace "Documents and Settings" with "Users."

The first two folders are for IE though...
And why Firefox would be accessing 'My Recent Documents' I don't know.

Personally, I'd recommend a quick run of CCleaner.

And drop the 'My', I think.

Good point, I would say so too, just copy/pasted it without paying too much attention. It comes from a Mozilla dedicated site though: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2009/07/workaround-for...artups-on-windows/

It may just be /Temp/ that does the speeding up. Oh well, doesn't hurt to clean out the others too.

That's definitely the reason for the startup problems. I was scrolling through this thread hoping someone would have posted that link earlier 'cause everyone was suggesting things like making new profiles and disabling addons which had nothing to do with it.

RaceProUK: If you read the post linked to, you'll see that it's using temporary files to generate random numbers for the security-related functions in the browser. Very stupid idea, yes.
The previous sentence is false. The following sentence is true.
