Just dropped by to report a bug that's been bugging me for quite a while. (I've been too lazy to report it till now. )

So here it goes: when copying conversation text, the Arabic equivalent for the letter B shows up instead of an asterisk.



This happens to all messages that are right-aligned, no matter in what language they are. Left-aligned messages (in any language) are not affected. If I copy both right-aligned and left-aligned messages, only the right-aligned ones are affected.

(It's normal that the colons in the first image show up on the wrong side, if anyone wondered.)

(BTW, someone should probably remove my "official tester" tag thing. )

Are you sure it's Plus! fault? Did you test without Plus! running?

Yeah, the asterisk thing is a msgplus feature... Without it it's just spaces.

Sorry for the late answer, I had marked this issue for review but the contest keeps me busy these days,

I checked the problem and the reason for this is simple: the Arabic leteter you specify is what Messenger assigns to the little dots. Messenger Plus! simply gets whatever text is associated with the object/emoticon and puts it in the copied data.

I don't speak Arabic so I need to ask you: does this letter make any sense here? can it be used liek an asterix or is it completely out of place and should be replaced by Plus! by an asterix?

Well, I pretty much flunked Arabic back in high school. All I know is that it's the equivalent of 'B', so it doesn't seem to make sense. Besides, Arabic isn't the only RTL language, why would they use that? I say it's all Microsoft's fault and we should stone them.

But if there are any Arabic speakers around to confirm, that'd be great.

You are right, it doesn't make any sense as it is just the equivalent for the letter "B" like you have already mentioned. So it'd be exactly like "Btest".

alright then, it will be fixed in the next version.
