Hello!

Even in 2009 not everyone is having a display image (or using some stupid standard image) in Windows Live Messenger.

Is there an extension existing that I could use to set a custom display picture for my contacts?

Plain and simple: no, there is no such extension as it is nearly impossible todo properly...

If you're talking about the Display Picture, couldn't you replace the default "no avatar selected" image with a a skin?

You could probably even replace the standard DPs too, though I don't know how Messenger works on this, but I can't imagine it makes you download the standard ones again from people who have them set p:

From what I understood he requested to have his own custom DPs for his contacts. So for each contact a different one: contact A gets DP A, contact B gets DP B, etc....

He didn't requested to simply change the default "no dp" image. That would be very easy to do.

He says that a lot of people don't have a DP ["not everyone is having a display image"], therefore they have the "no DP" image, and that "using some stupid standard image", eg, one of the built in ones.

No where does it say he wants to set a different DP for different contacts.

Yep, he doesn't. But Cookie read it that way =P, that's why tolerance is always a good thing anywhere. (and to avoid another misunderstanding of this, that is just an offtopic comment)

Anyways, if you want to replace the default one, it is a simple thing. Just replace the 582 (96px), 48024 (96px) for normal DPs, 48027 (96px) for the mobile one, 48054 (96px) for the Yahoo one, and the 48062 (96px) for the group one (I haven't ever seen the others in use... Like 597 and 48060) with a skin.

Thank you very much for your replies. Good to know that I could at least replace the default DP. Unfortunately I really wanted to set a different image for every contact.
