Well. I installed messenger plus and it works in like my contact list (i.e. the colours appear in my name and in other peoples) there are a few other things that work too but in conversation nothing really works :/

Can anyone shed any light on this or help me at all ??

Also, do you have Windows Blinds installed?  I believe there are some issues with that corrupting Messenger Plus! Live

In PM she told me that she has threatfire installed, but can't remove it as she isn't meant to be an administrator on the PC, but can get around it.

You have a few options:

1) Uninstall ThreatFire and install a suitable replacement like AVG or Avast and hope that your Mum doesn't noticed
2) Ask your Mum if you can uninstall ThreatFire and replace it with something else as it stops Messenger Plus! Live working
3) Miss out on using Messenger Plus! Live

Personally I'd go with option 2.  It's not unreasonable to ask that, as ThreatFire isn't unique in what it does and we can direct you to like-for-like replacements.....plus it doesn't go behind your Mum's back, it shows that she can trust you

Messenger Plus! Live should work once ThreatFire is gone, though it may need uninstalling and re-installing just to make sure

Also, try to reply just in threads rather than PM-ing people as everyone can see threads and reply to them and try to help you
