I've had a couple of problems recently with display pictures not showing up in the conversation window (and occasionally the contact list) of contacts who i know have pictures.

Is there any way I can force Messenger to re-download display picture data from the server?

I don't know, but using the Plus! command /ctcinfo and pressing refresh on that new window always helped me in those cases.

Tried that but didn't do anything

When I open the Plus! contact info window it shows "No picture available"  but it's definitely there in the contact list and in the WLM 'Contact Card'
