Hello Everybody !

Well I have a (big?) problem, my Messenger Plus Live has not worked for one month.

I had already read a lot of things before to come writing here.

So, I do not have some "bad" softwares as SweetIM, Macrogaling, etc.
And I can say you that I searched a lot these kind of softwares on my computer, but nothing !
I even formated my computer! It is the always the same problem, after the installation I turn off my computer, and after that Messenger Plus live does not work anymore!

I do not understand, and I am going to be crazy, I am not use to be not able to resolve this kind of problems...

So...please, If you have an idea, or a solution that would be really help me ^^

Presuming you've already read this.

I can't believe that you have properly reformatted your computer...

Plus! does work on a clean install of Windows XP, Vista or 7 with the latest Windows Live Messenger.

Plus! disappearing after restart is a classic example of conflicting software, as you're aware of.

There's always the possibility that some conflicting software hasn't yet been acknowledged.

All I can suggest is that you post a list of installed programs.

This can be done with CCleaner, Belarc Advisor or [will edit with better options]...

I must say that, after the reformat, Messenger Plus Live worked !
I was glad ! I turned off my computer, and when I turned on my computer it disappears again, and I have searched why, but I cannot find ...

I'm not sure you know what reformat means. It means deleting absolutely everything: all the files that exist on the hard drive, even the Windows operating system, so you're left with nothing. Afterwards you install Windows again and you've got what's called a 'clean install'.

From a look at your list, you have lots of HP programs installed which is common to come loaded with HP computers and laptops. Unless you've installed them from a CD, which I doubt because most of them aren't needed anyway, you probably haven't reformatted your hard drive. See here for a definition.

Edit: Some of your programs were installed in 2008, so I think that confirms you haven't done a reformat. I think you may mean reinstall: as in you removed Windows Live Messenger and/or Messenger Plus! Live then installed it again.

In regards to the list you provided, one thing that sticks out is the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant.

But as CookieRevised suggested: Spyware Doctor is most likely the culprit, presuming it is a running process (which was my next question ).

I don't think any of the HP programs are the culprint.

Although what Chris4 said is very true; 99,9999% of these HP (printer) tools are completely not needed at all as all the functionality is already there and accessable when you go to "Print..." menu in any program. And the other so called tools they provide are quite often not usefull, limited in use, or either don't provide the same kind of functionality you would have with other tools, and some are even full of bugs. Moral: never install anything else than the core printer driver from HP (and even that is quite often not needed as Windows usually supports all the HP printers nativly).

The exception to this (but this goes for every brand) is the recovery tool to put your computer/laptop into its fabrication state. But note: this is not the same as making a backup and restoring a backup. Recovery tools to put your computer/laptop back into its fabrication state wipe everything from your harddisk and do a reformat so that your computer/laptop is back to how it was when you first bought it.

Neither should the outdated Windows Live ID-assistent be a problem (note: "should be"). Although that can point to another problem: Pixie-Karma, do you have all the updates, fixes and patched for Windows? If you're not sure I highly encourage to first go to http://www.windowsupdate.com/ and install all the patches.

This is very important, especially when you have used a recovery tool to put your computer/laptop back into the state it was when you first bought it!

Also try to disable/uninstall SpyWare Doctor.
Then re-download (important) and re-install Messenger Plus! and see f the problem is still there (thus after re-installing, turn computer off and back on, sign in into Messenger and see if Plus! is there or not).

If Plus! is there after you've done all this, it means SpyWare Doctor is the culprint.

I did a lot of reformat with my old computers.

And even if it is not the same. The restoration system proposed by HP deleted all of the progams that I installed...

The real problem it that I would like make a REAL reformat, because sometimes computer need it!

But they do not put a CD of VISTA with my laptop, so if I do a real reformat, I lose my original version of vista... :/

And after that, at this first time, messenger plus live worked...


What's means "culprint" ? I do not know this word sorry ....

Culprit means "the problem". (See definition #2)

Spyware Doctor is most likely the problem.

It could be falsely thinking Plus! is spyware after you install it and delete its files.

Follow CookieRevised's instructions and hopefully it'll fix it.

I'd recommend removing it, as from my experience disabling security software sometimes doesn't stop it.

It is weird, Spyware Doctor is a good software isn't it ?
In addition I have a licence with Spyware Doctor...
