O.P. Just when I thought I could do something right.
My PC busted down on me, and of course it probably has something to do with the fact that I upgraded the motherboard/ram/and CPU. I don't know what the problem is though. In the middle of playing World of Warcraft my PC suddenly flashes me to a white screen, the audio freaks out, and I have to force shut down my PC. After that I tried to turn it back on but the fans just run and nothing happens, the PC will no longer be forced shutdown at this point. I don't know what to do...

Also, the hardware wasn't even warm.

Is everything seated properly inside the computer?  I once received a new computer where the processor had been pulled slightly loose due to a heatsink that was too big....and all that happened when I pressed the power button was that the fans whirred, NOTHING came on the screen.

So if you don't even get the usual white text on black background of the system checks and stuff, then it's worth checking that everything is still plugged in properly

Well, I went back into my PC and refastened the heatsink and other cables. I even reseated the graphics card. Same issue everytime.

I worry that maybe I broke it by negligence. Even though I updated all the BIOS and drivers on the motherboard I was still having some issues where music and audio in general would begin to sputter often. Occasional pauses were a problem too.

I'm going to keep playing with it, anymore advice would be greatly appreciated.

Note:

I did install these new components about a week or two ago, so it's weird the problem is arising now. The CPU's temp only went as high as 30 degrees fahrenheit.

Run a Memtest and see if it is successful. If not, it may either be bad RAM, incorrect BIOS settings (voltage/timings/etc.), or incompatible RAM.

Also, did you do a clean installation of your OS after doing the hardware upgrade? New motherboard while still using all your old drivers may very well cause trouble too.

I wish I could, but the PC won't even show me anything on the monitor.

Edit:

I went back in and replaced my GeForce 9800 with my older GeForce 8800, no progress.

All the fans are turning and force shut downs (holding the power button) has begun to work again.

I'm going to fill out an RMA form with Newegg since I've tried to troubleshoot this thing and had absolutely no progress in doing so. Does anyone think it could be a problem besides the motherboard? I'd hate to send back a perfectly good piece of hardware if there was another problem, or a solution.

This is something that happened to me back in 2006 when I built my own computer. Overclockers kept returning the faulty item by mistake (annoying).

Turns out that the problem was with a small capacitor on the motherboard - one of the legs had snapped unfortunately.

Really hope the problem gets resolved!

Me again,

The problem was fixed when I got a new motherboard. I don't know what was wrong with the old one, but everything is peachy now.

HOWEVER,

If you guys can help me solve an odd issue:

My old hard drives were the primary(C drive) (with OS), Backup(D drive), and a 1tb storage drive(F drive). Just turned my PC on today to see that everything got jumbled because now my Primary is F and my Storage is C. It's weird because the OS is on the primary, which is now F. Is there a way I can switch these back around without deleting anything?

Start > 'Disk Management' (Create and format hard disk partitions).

Change the letters there.
