I wish there would be a lite version of msgplus just to display the colours..

A "lite" version like this is extremely unlikely as in theory, people could ask for any number of "lite" versions, just to include a single feature.

Plus! has a very small footprint, it's not large to install and doesn't use more memory or slow the computer down.  If you only want to use it for colours, then only use that feature

Messenger Plus! doesn't enable much by default and about everythign it does can be disabled. I don't see what a "lite" version could accomplish more.
