hi up until yesterday my windows live messenger was working now it wont let me sign in .in system tray it dissapears when i hover mouse over it tried uninstall and reinstall still the sameit shows this message all the time windows live messenger has encounterd a problem and needs to close we are sorry for inconvenience can anyone help thanks

You can try a clean install, there may be some corrupted files of some sort causing the problem. Could also be other software on your computer, so closing any running applications (security especially) would help.

hi ive been in at add/remove and took all the windows live components out im using nod32 and zone alarm for firewall ive added windows live messenger to exceptions tab on zone alarm what version of windows live messenger should i re-install thanks

installed the one you said same problem wont sign in it does the same as my 1st post i disabled zone alarm no change

What error code does it give you?

it gives appname messenger exe  appVER 14.0.81.17.416 apppstamp4bc935a
and a lot of other weird numbers
