Incorrect. Solutions on official sites have been tested and always work! That is: the problem is that not all solutions are fixes for the problems people described. The problem is often that people describe the problem in the wrong way, don't tell everything, or don't know that they are actually experiencing another problem or multiple problems.
Chris4 is also correct in stating that many times when people quickly reply with "done it, doesn't work", they actually didn't do everything or didn't do it correctly or didn't understood what to do (so they skipped some steps, etc).
Whatever helps you sleep at night but Ive personally installed Windows Live Messenger on a PC have it sign in for a few hours 2 o 3 times (updating network drivers) and after the third it doesnt sign in anymore. I make a new user profile and it signs in ONLY on that profile.
I followed Microsoft steps, nothing.
