*phew* uninstalled fine. reinstalled. I'm back to normal.

FYI: Going back to your working 2009 messenger with Plus!
> Uninstall ALL of windows live essentials, not just messenger.
> Find the offline installer for release 14.0 (last official Plus! supported ver) of Windows Live from here:

Plus! should automatically run again and your settings should stay the same.
