If Messenger Plus! is properly installed you'll see the Plus! logo and some other extra buttons in your contactlist, an extra 'Plus!' menu in the contactlist and conversation windows, the context (right-click) menu in the contactlist and conversation windows will contain extra Plus!-related menu items, etc...
But what version of Messenger are you using?
Note that Messenger Plus! isn't fully compatible yet with Windows Live Messenger 2011 (15.x).
