There are three methods to change the interface language of Messenger Plus!
  1. Select the correct language in the "Preferences & Options" panel of Plus!...
In English: Plus! menu in your contactlist > Preferences & Options > Language > Interface Language > select language > OK
In Italian: Plus! menu in your contactlist > Preferenze & Opzioni > Lingua > Lingua Interfaccia > English > OK

    or
    1. Open the "Preferences & Options" panel of Plus! by typing the command /prefs in the search bar on top of your contact list
    2. Click on the second icon in the main panel (this is the 'world globe' icon)
    3. Navigate to the underlying submenu in the treeview on the left
    4. Select the proper language and press 'OK'

  2. You can also simply reinstall Messenger Plus! and select the correct language in the setup.
You don't need to uninstall the currently installed one.
All your settings will be preserved.

  3. You can remove the following registry key and restart Windows Live Messenger:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yuna Software\Messenger Plus!\LanguageFile

But if you are talking about the interface language of Windows Live Messenger itself, then you have posted in the wrong subforum (this subforum is for Messenger Plus! issues, not Windows Live Messenger issues - Note that Messenger Plus! and Windows Live Messenger are two different things). Anyways...

To change the interface language of Windows Live Messenger itself, it depends on what version you are using:

If you are using Windows Live Messenger 2009:

You will need to re-download and re-install Messenger from http://explore.live.com/windows-live-Messenger-XP
Make sure you select the correct language this time.
You don't need to uninstall the currently installed one.
All your settings will be preserved.

If you are using Windows Live Messenger 2011:
  1. Go to your Windows' Control Panel
  2. Click on "Clock, Language, Region"
(this is a big green link)
  3. Click on "Windows Live Language Setting"
  4. A popup window will appear where you can set the correct language.
Note that this option affects all the Window Live programs (thus including Windows Live Messenger, but also Windows Live Photo Gallery, etc...).
