The "Polygamy" feature has always been present in Messenger Plus!, including in the latest releases:
Plus! > Preferences & Options > Features > Multiple Accounts
If you remove Messenger Plus! you wont have this ability anymore; it is not present in Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger, nor Windows Live Messenger.
An alternative would be to patch your Messenger with a hard patcher like
A-Patch. It has this feature too (but it is enabled in a different way).
