If that is the case then it could indeed be something wrong with Messenger Plus!. But it still doesn't rule out that it is the fault of Windows Live Messenger though:
Windows Live Messenger could still be relaying the wrong information (while it shows the correct information itself). It has been known that Windows Live Messenger had such similar errors in the past.
