I understand your point of view then... but you know, the registry is much more protected that ini files... modify a ini file without backing it up and you're screwed for life. The registry has two automatic backup, which are done everytime you start Windows, so you still have a chance to undo your actions.
In any case, modifying a ini or the registry without knowing the result is risky, you can do it, why not, but don't blame Microsoft for it
