It is for compatibility for all the plus settings (he confirmed this somewhere on the forums, but it is indeed a pain to search for it
)... I doubt it will change any time soon...
btw: That's the major drawback of putting version numbers in registry keys and directory names, if the version changes, everything must change also (and maybe cause trouble for "n00b" people), or stay with the old number... That's why I never let settings and directories depend on version numbers... (and that's both for when I'm programming and/or when I'm installing stuff)
