Erm... no... it can be that, but it can be all kind of things also....
It would help if you stated the exact errormessage or take a screenshot of it....
Also, what is your Messenger version?
Is it MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger?
What is your Windows version?
etc...
PS: You can test it if it is that character-thing, by exporting your contactlist (
Contacts > Save Contact List) and then deleting all your contacts from the contactlist. Try to sign in again. If the error occurs again, then it is not the character-thingie... After you signed in again, you can import all your contacts back (
Contacts > Import Contacts from a Saved File). (ps: by doing this you will loose your groups though, so you'll have to create them again)
