Now you can't deny that you carelessly installed Messenger Plus with the sponsor program, you accepted to install the adware and Patchou has posted clear advice in the thread

The optional sponsor program is there for Patchou to make a living, you can get rid of it whenever you want, you don't have to install it and it's the lightest adware out there...I don't get the problem...

No, AIM+ never contained adware, but it was actually found to contain spyware that allowed the author to gather connection information about his users...So before you go saying that Messenger Plus! contains an optional bit of adware and saying AIM+ is better you may want to read this
