Did your PC startup in "safe-mode", if so the resolution was proberly changed from hires (32/24bit colors) to lowres (256 colors). After changing some stuff, it could've sticked to that....
So check your Display Settings in the control panel. And make sure your resolution is correct aswell as the colordepth...
Also check your bootup parameters to make sure you don't statrup in safe-mode everytime...
