yes it does, the solution you gave doesn't mean that it isn't based upon the engine.
All it does is proving that those browsers don't set the correct registry keys when you select them as the default browser.
Also, those keys are correctly changed by browsers like Netscape, Mozilla, etc. and yet MSIE is still launched when you click on "you have x new emails"
without having StuffPlug-NG. Those keys have very little (if not nothing) todo with that.
Those keys are, however, important when you select your default browser.
