Yes they do help with that, BUT your car needs to be a certain wheel drived, AND for the spoiler to have any affect while your racing, your car would have to be going over 140 mph, and 80% of the cars that have spoilers on them cant get past 120mph anyways, so spoilers are mainly all show...

Nope, it restricts the amount of air that can go underneath the car, and it adds some weight to the car.
