Many people are making partitions of their hard drives so when you restore your hard drive (like with a restore disk ect.) only one partition is effected. For example I have a restore disk, which will pretty much wipe the bulk of files from my C:\, but I have a partition called D:\ where documents, media and the like are stored...It's popularity seems to have increased in the past few years among many computer users, and it is a very good solution to run less of a risk of loosing data.
