It seems that it's because you have Windows XP SP2 installed and are using SPNG's Use Default Browser feature. (first2xt.jpg's SPNG's page) Actually, I'd say, if you use Internet Explorer to open internet links from Messenger, you don't really need to turn on Use Default Browser function. :)
