O.P. powersupply

Hi,

I wanna know I have a 230w power supply right now and whenever I do any type of gaming or anything really stressfull on my PC like a movies and games I hear the fan going and it's really loud. Does that mean that the power supply is going or do I just need one with 300w supply or larger? I have a compaq high tower PC
