There is no browser other than Internet Explorer that supports Windows Update (Microsoft Update).
ActiveX is a Microsoft-patented technology. That is why it is not in
Firefox,
Opera,
Konqueror or any other browser. Well, Microsoft kind of stole the patent, but that's besides the point ATM.
Windows Update (Microsoft Update) is ActiveX based, and needs to be, so that it can change your system files. I explained above why ActiveX isn't in Firefox.
