You can use something like Messenger Discovery to prevent Microsoft from forcing you to download MSN Messenger 7.
I agree that MSN Messenger 7 uses much more RAM than any of the previous versions of MSN, it's because it's better, plus... Surely you're running a half-decent computer, it shouldn't really matter .
