I'd check the gateway between you and the internet's speed, see if that is interfering. When I got upgraded I got no notice of it, if I hadn't heard from other sources it would have come as a nice surprise
. Afaik, everyone on BT I know has received the upgrade.

No, you don't have to do anything. However your internet connection may go down for 30 minutes.
