Righty, well we need a little more info before we can help you:

Your Operating System: XP/2000/98 etc
Your messenger version: Help > About MSN Messenger
Your messenger Plus! version: Plus! > About

Also, have you patched your MSN with anything like Mess Patch/Apatch or using any additonal plugins?
