you dont need any drivers for a regular optical mouse (for example logitech's mx1000 needs drivers, since it can operate with additional buttons normally not recognized by windows or other platforms)...
the easiest you can do is check the cable for damages or open the mouse and clean it from dust since the mousewheel is also operating optically and dust could be disturbing it's work...
or your mouse could have a permanent flaw if it's been damaged mechanically (fell down etc)...
