I've been thinking about this request for a while, and I think it might be useful.
In my opinion, MSG+ should save all status information for every contact. Then it will be possible to make a graph in which you can see when that contact had which status at what time the past week/month/etc. If you view that for a longer period, e.g. a month, you will be able to see when you can expect your contact back online. when you see that your contact is online every friday evening, you can come online on friday evening.
The way I see is, it is as a agenda view in outlook, with coloured strokes when your contact had a certain status, but you will certainly be able to work that out.
