Open your HOSTS file and remove everything you'll see in there (accept the lines which start with "#", as those are simply comments). The only line that should be present is :
127.0.0.1 localhost
Since the HOSTS file is simply a textfile you can open and edit it using
Notepad.
Your local HOSTS file, named "HOSTS.", is found here:
for Windows XP: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS.
for Windows 2K: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS.
for Win 98/ME: C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS.
As the HOSTS file can be marked as hidden, make sure you've enabled
"Show hidden files and folders" and disabled
"Hide protected system files". To do so, go to
"My Computer" > "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View" tab.
Or, as an alternative to editing it, you can overwrite it using pre-made HOSTS files, like found here:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm.
PS: don't double post. Use the button instead to edit your previous post...

Please don't link to such 3rd party sites. You never know which version it is, what language it is, if it is tampered with, etc., etc...
To link to previous versions, use the available proper
