Confirmed. Different fonts has different squares.

You can also use shortcuts for all those styles:
Ctrl+B -> Start bold text
Ctrl+T -> Start italic text
Ctrl+U -> Start underlined text
Ctrl+K -> Start colored text
Ctrl+O -> Reset formatted text
