The whole point of having multiple translators is to divide the workload, and have it checked by peers. Patchou specifically mentioned that all translators must master English as well as the language their translating into.
(Of course that does mean that all translators should first contact each other before translation begins, and not like with the Japanese translation where most translators either don't respond or say they're too busy to be bothered. Which meant that two people had to do all the work and go over the file 20 times to filter out all the errors...)
By the way, the Japanese translation should be absolutely perfect, mostly thanks to Kensuke Nezu, who did most of the translation.
