Now, this may sound a little stupid, but I have found that some settings are not always saved if you "Exit" MSN Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger for that matter. So, sign out, then exit messenger and hopefully your settings should be saved.

It most probably is a server problem with MSN Messenger and not Messenger Plus!. Using this technique is the only way I can help you :)
