afaik since the new protocol a while back, you
cannot check .... cause the protocol allows only people on the friends list to check if the person is online thus screwing block checkers.
Correct me if im wrong tho im pretty sure thats the jist of it
... unless ofcourse a friend has that person you want to check has blocked you or not in which case you could just ask that person
