Troubleshoot Sharing Folders
Sharing Folders might not work for the following reasons: - You're logged in as a guest without privileges to send or receive files.
- Windows Live Messenger was set up by someone who doesn't have administrator privileges and can't give access to other users.
- You or your contact has a Messenger add-in that interferes with Sharing Folders.
- You haven't installed a security update that you need to have to share folders.
If you're having trouble using Sharing Folders, do the following:- Make sure that you can send an instant message to your contact.
- Try sharing with a different contact to see if the problem only affects only one contact.
- Try sending a single file by using the conversation window.
Set your status to Online, and ask your contact to do the same. - Then, add a new test file to the sharing folder, and exit Messenger.
- Restart Messenger, and then sign in again.
