Last time I checked the sounds were stored in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Messenger Plus\Custom Sounds\ (When I used MP!3).
Try to search for "Custom Sounds" directory if not.
BTW, I read ur post and it doesn't said AUTO backup.
