I have recently experimented and found that dialling directly to the net with my laptop modem makes events work... and so does connecting to the uni proxy. I think the problems lie within Socks restrictions, my home one being Socks v4 it doesn't allow UDP connections which
*could* be messing with it, I haven't bothered experimenting too much because I am connecting ADSL soon and won't need the Socks server anyway.

I can't suggest anything for a HTTP proxy server but if socks was offered you could try using ProxyCap or a similar program to "socksify" your MSN and Messenger Plus.
Its odd how events are the only thing affected yet they weren't in older version...
