The reason why they (the lock feature and boss protection) were merged is because they were almost identical. The only difference was that with boss protection you could hide all the messenger related windows, with the lock feature not.
The other thing i liked about it was that if u were only hiding it for a bit, then it didnt change ur status, so u could differentiate between how long u were going for. but if its not coming back, i guess i'll just have to mourn its loss and get on with life
