I'm partially guessing here; but the second icon from the right in your system tray, isn't that Smiley Central?
If so, uninstall "SmileyCentral" first by going to "Add/Remove Programs" in your Windows configuration.
After that, check if the file "riched20.dll" is still in your Messenger directory. If so, remove that dll file.
What you also can try is uninstalling any other Messenger addon you might have installed and/or reparing Messenger (add/remove programs > windows live messenger > repair).
