I know what you mean. People underestimate the damage that something like a sting-ray can do. It's the same with lots of other fish that usually sting you in the foot when you tread on them, if you swim over them and your neck hits them, then it could easily puncture your artery and kill you (i'm using this example as a weever fish doesn't have a long enough spine to reach your heart or lungs).
The sting-rays sting is like a barb, once it's in it is
very difficult to get out, similar to getting a fish-hook in your hand. It's the equivelant of being harpooned through the heart, with the poison in the spine aswell, nobody could stand a chance.
I'm pretty sure a sting-ray is a fish.
