RE: several question
1) Click the button titled 'Manage your contacts' (up and down arrow) next to 'Add a contact' button in WLM main window. Tick 'Show details'. That way display pictures of your contacts are displayed. If you don't like the size, then sorry.. im not the one to help you.
2) In WLM main window you should see status icons. But yes, status is not shown as text in brackets after nickname.
3) Make a right-click on any contact, select 'Add a nickname' and there you go. For formatting you have to use special codes. Here's an example:
[c={color code}]contact's nickname[/c] - for single color text
[c=12]Knuckleees[/c] - written in blue
[c={starting colour}]contact's nickname[/c={ending color}] - for gradient text
[c=12]Knuckleees[/c=46] - written in from blue to red
Besides colors you can use other effects as
Bold - [b][/b]
Italic - [i][/i]
Underlined - [u][/u]
Strikethrough - [s][/s]
